What is it?

Slivovitz (also spelt šljivovica or slivovica) is a fruit brandy distilled from damson plums. The name originates from the Slavic word for plum, "sliva," reflecting its Central European roots. It is considered a national drink in several countries, including Serbia, Croatia, Poland, and the Czech Republic. It is equivalent to the Hungarian szilva pálinka, which is where our slivovitz comes from.

How is it made?

The Zwack Distillery is the best-known producer of Hungarian spirits, and they craft this premium-quality plum slivovitz from the ripest fruits. The process begins with careful de-stoning, followed by 10 to 15 days of fermentation, culminating in distillation. This results in a traditional plum brandy known for its intensely fruity yet refined flavour that finishes cleanly and lingers on the palate.

This authentic plum slivovitz is made with 100% fruit and contains no added sugars, artificial flavours, or colourings. The entire production process, from harvest to bottling, is conducted under strict supervision in accordance with kashrut guidelines. A certifying rabbi oversees this process to provide kosher certification and ensure compliance with all Jewish dietary laws.
